🛠️ Devlog #5 – UI, Movement & Smarter Undead

Hey everyone! Back again with some fresh updates from the world of What Has Happened. This week’s focus has been on refining how players experience the game — both visually and through mechanics. Here’s what’s new:
🎨 Main Menu & UI Updates We’ve been working on the main menu and general UI improvements, focusing on creating a stronger atmosphere right from the moment the game boots. Expect a more immersive interface with updated fonts, visual overlays, and background imagery that ties directly into the game’s tone.
🪜 New Movement: Ladders! Verticality is now in the game! We’ve added ladders, opening up new opportunities for level design, exploration, and escape routes. Whether you’re sneaking into abandoned towers or scrambling up to rooftop safety, this adds another dimension (literally) to survival.
🧟♂️ Smarter Zombie AI (WIP) We’ve started implementing light and sound sensitivity into the zombie AI. This means they’ll react more realistically to your flashlight, gunshots, and other environmental cues.
⚠️ Note: Still in progress! Currently, they’re still defaulting to direct pursuit (classic chase mode). Once we iron that out, you’ll be able to strategically sneak, distract, or avoid them in more interesting ways.
⏭️ Next Up Once the AI is behaving properly, we’re moving on to the dialogue system and objective implementation. This will bring the story to life with real choices, consequences, and faction-aligned tasks.
Stay tuned, and as always — feedback is gold. Thanks for following along 💀
