What Has Happened Devlog#1

🧟‍♂️ Devlog #1 – Welcome to What Has Happened

Hey there!

I’m Stu — a solo indie developer and the one-person team behind Robot Stu Studio. I’m building a survival horror game called What Has Happened, made in Unity, inspired by classics like Resident Evil 2, F.E.A.R., and British horror atmospheres.

🎮 Game Overview

What Has Happened is a first-person 3D survival horror game set on the eerie, rain-soaked Black Hollow Isle, off the coast of Britain. You play a father who moved to the island just before his wife and son were due to join him — but the ferry never arrived.

Now, strange things are happening.

You’ll explore abandoned villages, search for boat parts, meet survivors (and enemies), and face the undead — all while trying to reunite with your family and uncover the island’s disturbing secrets.

🧩 Gameplay Highlights

  • 🎯 Story-driven survival with branching encounters

  • 🔫 Melee and ranged combat, but bullets are rare

  • 😱 Zombies, psychological horror, and jump scares

  • 🔦 Exploration-focused — every building has a story

  • 🗺️ Large open map with footpaths, country roads, and hidden areas

🧪 Current Stage: MVP

I’m deep into developing the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) — core systems, the island map, basic AI, and a first playable loop. Right now I’m focused on:

  • Implementing the player controller (Unity + C#)

  • Setting up enemy behaviors

  • Early environment design and lighting

  • Basic inventory and health system
